Reconstruction and electrification of railway track Svilengrad – Turkey/Greece border” is the last section of the project “Plovdiv – Svilengrad Reconstruction and electrification of railway track on corridors IV and IX.
The total project cost is 340 million Euro, while the final section - 34 million Euro.
The client is Nation company “Railway Infrastructure”
Chief executive of the site is “OHL ZS” PLC. “Avis Engineering” Ltd. Is the executive of the part Overhead lines.
The working draft has been prepared and submitted for approval. Construction is expected to begin in April 2010. The period of carrying out the project is 24 months.
The main objectives will be realized with the completion of this project are:
- Improving the quality of the transport system in Bulgaria;
- Implementation of the rail link Europe - Asia;
- Integrate the railway network in Bulgaria with the EU;
- Increasing the competitiveness of rail transport;
- Increasing the traffic safety;
- An increase of jobs in project corridor;
- Reduction of environmental pollution, etc.
